Keyword Research
While most SEO
& SEM
companies can optimize a website in order to rank high
in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages), they typically
will not take the time to research which terms will
provide the highest ROI.
Better Search Engine Marketing Company uses a custom
designed technique to research and choose the keywords
that will convert best. While each case requires hands
on expertise and general industry knowledge, our process
utilizes basic and free tools:
Google
Keyword Tool
Used to estimate the average search volume and CPC (cost
per click) for a clients keywords. By displaying the
data by average search volume using synonyms, it allows
you to compare monthly keyword searches to one another.
Sorting the data by CPC allows you to see the current
cost and ad position estimate for each term. Assuming
that your Ad text and landing page combinations equals
a good quality score, it will show you the cost to buy
the top 3 sponsored listings. Once we combine these
two important numbers, we then use the:
Overture
(Yahoo!) Keyword Selector Tool
With this keyword tool, you enter your search term and
it displays all related searches that include your term.
In addition, it shows you how many times the term was
searched the previous month. Once the Yahoo searches
are complete, we then run a Yahoo
Search for sites with the keyword in the anchor
tag and in the page title. For example, if you wanted
to know how many sites had page titles that contained
the terms and inks pointing to it using the link text
of "Search Engine Marketing Company" you would
simply run a search for inanchor:"search engine
marketing company" intitle:"search engine
marketing company" and you would take the number
from the top bar that says 1-10 of about XXXX for ...
Once we establish the basic keyword matrix, we then
check the current placement of your site in the SERPs
for each term. Keywords for your search engine optimization
campaign are then chosen based upon competitiveness
and return on investment.
